Money Flowers
Happy first day of summer! Here’s a sweet craft combining two things known to put a smile on somone’s face: flowers and money. If the post about the $1 elephant made you go “awwww,” you’re going to like this.
Click over to the site Origami Money Flowers and you’ll find exactly that: instructions on making origami flowers out of money. For the bloom pictured above, you’ll need three bills, this tutorial (in both PDF and video form), and a little practice.
I love the idea of leaving a single flower as a tip, but some crafty bloggers have also attached entire bouquets of flowers to larger arrangements for gift presentations. Here’s a how-to from Skip to My Lou on creating a money tree for a teacher.
You can of course also cut regular paper to the dimensions of a dollar bill and make non-colorful money flowers that way too. Add some floral wire stems and throw them in a vase or an empty jar and you have a cute bouquet that won’t wilt in the summer heat.
