Awesomeness Reminders
Reader Sarah of Cowbark sent in two fun links last week, and whenever I think about this first one, I get that heart-swelling feeling that expands in my chest until it spills out in the form of a laugh. It’s really fun.
The service is Awesomeness Reminders, and the concept is simple: You’re hiring a rep from Awesomeness Reminders to call your target and remind them that they’re awesome. Like so: “Hello, may I speak to Sarah?” “This is she.” “Sarah, YOU’RE AWESOME.” Fin. How great is that?
Hear two examples on the Awesomeness Reminders homepage (scroll down past the yellow box), and read a post by real-life recipient, Kim of The Kim Challenge, who still hasn’t figured out who ordered the calls for her. (Was it you?)
A single flat fee covers both domestic and international(!) calls, and the service lasts for an entire month. An entire month of “You’re awesome” calls to the same person? Isn’t that a little…much? you say. That’s what I said, but fret not, because you can spread the calls out over as many people as you want, scheduling each one for the perfect time. Maybe your little sister needs a call the morning before her AP Calc test. Give a friend seven days of awesome during the week leading up to a big job interview. Who wouldn’t love this kind of reminder during those early days with a newborn? Don’t be shy; if you order an Awesomeness Reminder for yourself, your secret’s safe with me.
I’m giving this Nice Thing bonus points because it’s phone-phobe friendly, and come on, as anonymous call services go, this one is so much better than the ones designed to tell someone they have bad breath.
Who ya gonna call? (Hint: The answer is not Ghostbusters. Not this time, anyway.)
